Marriage

Through sculpture, film and photography Terence McCormacks work explores the intersections between identity, sexuality, and the cultural topographies that shape our lives. His practice engages with the spaces where the personal converges with the public, and the visible is intertwined with the obscured. Through the reconfiguration of everyday objects his work subtly disrupts the conventional narratives that govern our perception of space. His art seeks to deliberately interrogate how identity is constructed, deconstructed, and can be reimagined within the fabric of time and memory.

Marriage is Terence McCormack’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, it includes Intermittents; a series of custom framed photographs that document the use of a catheter over the course of a year-long illness. These photographs are presented alongside Coverings, which comprise of collected furniture, that have been covered in polyester fabric, Hothouses is a vertical split-stack slideshow of 160 black-and-white photographs that includes images of a studio-lit formicarium and hand-held images of ants in their natural habitat.
